Just to be clear

I do not usually open this blog. I used to write stuff and dump ‘em in here but I didn’t have much confidence to post some more. As you’ve noticed, I haven’t posted anything for ages. I’m just opening this account to comment on my friends’ blogs. :)

After the Break of Dawn

An attempted fanfic. :)

A unanimous clatter of clapping hands startled me, pulling my eyes away from the dancing lights rolling around the luminescent walls. Feeling the warmth rushing through my neck, I felt a bit nauseated after hearing the husky ceremony master say my name, next to the words “King of The Night.” Thundering woos rattled my head, making my vision swirl despite its inhuman sharpness. I merely stared at my shoes and somehow found relief. At least it paid of since this pair was a stunning gift from Alice, who as always, was more excited than anyone else when it comes to fashion design. I’m glad she finally got over with the “being blind when I’m near you” principle of friendship.

Before I stepped up with great humiliation on that fancy stage, I turned my head around the hall, looking for the only reason why I got in this stupid ceremony. There she is, wearing that crooked smile that she got from her father, and then chuckled when I poked my tongue out to show her that this experience isn’t fun and I am willing to endure it, just for her. She danced towards me, her face glowing while she batted her lashes with grace. I sighed, realizing that she is as if morphing to be her mother’s clone. Good thing her parents were already busy burning books in Dartmouth, since it would be inexplicable to ordinary people that they look like a teenage peer and not a family.

As soon as she reached my hand, I was again made to read her thoughts.

“Give me a cue and we’ll run away from here.” I grunted. I couldn’t feel any anger towards her but still what she did turned my high school into a major disaster.

She chuckled, still looking like an angel in her baby pink dress.

“No, Jake, you look stunning.” I’m bitter that she didn’t get the anti-prom principle of Bella Swan.

“Sure, sure.” Looks like I don’t have a choice. I stood in front of the victorious howls and insisted that I don my crown and sash all by myself.

The announcer’s husky voice roared and said, “King and Queen of the Night, prepare for your sweet dance!” Another round of applause. Great. I need to get out of here before that forgettable Prom Queen screams upon touching my scorching skin.

“Sorry, but can we pause for a break? I really need to pee.” That was a more embarrassing thing to say but to hell with it, I was planning to move to another school next year. Nessie has been summoned by the Cullens this summer and of course, as her ever loyal guard dog, I am coming with her.

Renesmee wouldn’t stop laughing until we reached the car. I insisted bringing my Rabbit despite having the key to Bella’s Ferrari in the box of my stunning pair of shoes.

“Don’t laugh because I only did that because you wanted me to.” This is Alice’s fault, opening her eyes to the sparkling closet of gowns and prom sashes. I mean, she’s already the most beautiful girl in the world. She doesn’t need any of that. And hey, now looking more and more like Bella, she should have inherited that anti-prom thing and spared me from that deep humiliation. When her bronze curls got longer, they appeared exactly like Bella’s waves under the sun. Of course she got her mother’s parchment skin, which turns tomato red when I, my pack or his uncle Emmett makes fun of her. Everything that Bella left in her past human life was now best seen in Nessie’s features. Absolutely adorable.

I gasped in daze as she laid her warm hands on my warmer cheek. Thank you. She grinned. We were both in awe when her mobile vibrated between us, having Edward’s name flashing on the screen.

“Dad?” Her singsong tone echoed inside the car. “Yes, Jake is taking me there at the crack of dawn.” Eavesdropping was unnecessary since Nessie was holding my shoulder as she and her father spoke.

“Give the kid a break, Leech. She’s been tormented by your sister all day and as you know, Nessie wasn’t a wallflower.” Apart from the unsociable peer of the Cullens last year, Nessie was considered as affable and active in most of the school activities in Forks High. She truly detested the suggestion of parting with Forks, especially that she’s really fond of Charlie and my pack. But having another curious coven to watch out for, it is best for the youngest Cullen to be closer to her family.

“He wants to speak to you.” Nessie said as she handed me her phone.

“Jacob.” He confirmed.

I took the quick turn along the curved road then responded, “I got the message from Alice. We’ll leave Forks in the morning.”

He sounded a bit worried as he gave instructions. “It is best to meet Jasper at the borderline before you leave. We need to make them believe that Nessie stays in Forks.”

I gritted my teeth as I muttered. “I am perfectly capable of protecting her, Edward.”

“I would never doubt that.” He said, following a sigh. “When you suggested the idea of passing through La Push, it has eased my troubles.” It was Alice who told us that one of these vampires also has a blind spot on werewolves, and that the distinguished coven relies on this tracker. It would be a quick defeat if well thought of yet it bothered everyone when she said she wasn’t sure if this would be a happy ending. Sam heard my thoughts during one of my rounds and agreed that having us pass through the reservation would blind the rivaling coven.

“I want to talk to Bella.” A short static followed as Edward handed Bella the phone.

“Take care of Nessie.” Her voice still gives me the comfort of a genuine best friend.

A chuckle escaped from me. “So, Renesmee was quite a mouthful, wasn’t it?”

She sighed. “It’s just that I hear Nessie all the time, thanks to you.” Her sarcasm was overriding but then when it comes to Nessie she sounds dictatorial for a teenage mother.

“Where are you?”

I smirked. “Just left the dungeon of gowns and tuxes.”

“Oh.” I heard her laugh. Edward sniggered as well.

Nessie grabbed the phone and said, “It’s not that bad, Mom.”

And then all of us were laughing.

Powerless

Just a month ago, sunset was due at 3:00 in the afternoon. Quite freaky to see shops close down as early as 4:00 in the afternoon.

And the biting cold… It kills me.

The sun may be so powerless, but it begins to show up longer than I expected. It was 7:30 in the evening and yet the sun was just about to set. They said it would be worse by June, sunset at 9:00 in the evening. Darn. It was an eerie feeling to bear with tangerine skies when trying to get some sleep.

I need to get new curtains.
